Minutes

SI Proposals: Approved

  • CHEM 254 Chemical Analysis 2 with Lab
  • CLAS 390 The Ancient City
  • BIO 472 Research in Immunology

One-Time SI/WI Requests: Approved

  • SI: WGSD 485 Independent Study
  • WI: ARTS 491 Independent Study

SI Proposals Returned for Revision

  • MGMT 421 New Venture Creation: The committee asked for clarification on how the pitch activities constitute three distinct speaking assignments, how the assignments are separately assessed, and how the SI metacognitive/reflection outcome is addressed.
  • PSYC 495 Team-Based Research 2: The committee requested that submission schedules be specified, three distinct speaking assignments be identified, and grading for group discussion be separated from group contributions.
  • RELG/331ZZ European Reformation: The committee requested clarification on how practice and feedback opportunities are built into the course leading up to the final presentation.

WI Proposals Returned for Revision

  • ENTR/BUAD/MGMT/MKTG 491: The committee asked that the WI learning objectives be included in the syllabus, and for clarification on whether assignments and page-length requirements are consistent across all course prefixes. If content varies substantially by discipline, each course would need its own proposal.
  • RELG/PHIL 283 Hinduism: The committee recommended incorporating a third major written assignment in place of the final exam, strengthening the writing component in the reflection-on-podcast option, and clarifying page counts and the feedback/revision timeline for the second written project.
  • RELG 108 Peacefulness: Here and Now: The committee requested that WI learning objectives be added to the syllabus, and asked for clarification on the collection and feedback process for meditation logs and the Perusall page estimate.

WI Removal

  • Math 431, 432, and 472 WI removal, as discussed previously.
