Members present: Maria Laura Bocaz-Leiva (Chair), Alex Dunn (Secretary), Janine Davis, Andrea Smith, Victoria Russell (ex-officio)

  1. Call to Order
  2. Old Business:
    1. Update Dates and Roles on UFC page
    2. Provost Website updated with appropriate dates for award deadlines
    3. Chair and secretary have signed up for trainings to learn how to update the new website
    4. SCHEV Award update – Victoria Russell gave an update on the current process and possible changes to make the process more efficient. Victoria will take our recommendations back to the Provost.
  3. New Business:
    1. Calendar Updates
      1. Next meetings:
        1. Wednesday, September 23, at 1:00 p.m.
        2. Wednesday, November 4, at 1:00 p.m
        3. One meeting was added to our calendar – Wednesday, October 14 at 1:00 pm. This meeting will be used to review applications.
      2. Important Dates
        1. Jepson Information:
          1. By Friday, October 9, 2026 — the Provost’s Office sends all electronic copies of the Jepson applications to the members of the Sabbatical, Fellowships, and Faculty Awards Committee and also notifies the Committee how many Jepsons may be awarded for the 2027-2028 academic year.
          2. By Monday, November 23, 2026 —Chair of the Sabbatical, Fellowships, and Faculty Awards Committee notifies the Provost of the Committee’s recommendations.
        2. Sabbatical Information:
          1. By Monday, September 28, 2026— Deans forward recommendations to the Provost; at the same time, Deans send electronic copies of all sabbatical proposals to the Provost and to the Chair of the Sabbatical, Fellowships, and Faculty Awards Committee.
          2. By Wednesday, October 21, 2026— Recommendations from the University Committee on Sabbaticals, Fellowships, and Faculty Awards due to the Provost (sent directly from the Committee Chair to the Provost).
