1. Director’s Report
• Updates of the activities-Marion updated the Committee on the upcoming activities for the Spring 2016 semester. She reported on the Martin Luther King Celebration and the upcoming Black History Month.
• Women of Color event was discussed as an important part of the Black History Month celebration.
• The Director also discussed the importance of the key note speaker for this event-Rasheed Cromwell. Within this discussion One Vocie Many Memories was introduced as an important event organized by the James Farmer Multicultural Center?.
• Islamic Cultural celebration and Women’s History celebration will take place in March.
• Islam and its view on terrorism will be part of a discussion to dismantle the myth that Islam is equal to terrorism.
• The Director also reported that she is working to enhance social action to address police violence against black youth
• Inclusion and campus climate initiative
• Culture competence initiative to address verbal oppression on campus
• Social justice retreat will be held in March
